Water rambling in Millau

WATER RAMBLING NOT TO MISS !!!!!
We did water rambling on August 12th, with 4 children age 9, 12 and 15. Breathtaking landscapes. This activity is accessible to everyone, with alternative ways for scared people. Slides, jumps (4, 7 meters), swim, it took more than two hours ! There is a camera at our disposal. Our instructor Fred was perfect : with pedagogy, patience and humour !!! We spent a really great time with a nice group. Don't miss this activity !!!!!

What is water rambling ?

A stone's throw from Millau, the Tayrac water rambling is an activity derived from canyoning. It is a descent of a beautiful wild river: Dourbie. Here we swim, we jump, we glide in natural slides offered by the stream, without any specific equipment (except wetsuit).

Hidden at the bottom of the gorge, nature has been more inventive than the best amusement park ! It offers us all kinds of water games, but also contemplative swimming and observation of the natural and preserved environment.

For whom ? At what age ?

An unforgettable family adventure.
As long as they know how to swim, the youngest will be able to come and have fun with adults from the age of 8.

Where is it ? When?

From Millau, the crossroads of the Tarn and Dourbie gorges, you will reach the village of Saint Jean du Bruel. About 40 minutes drive.
To get there, you will choose between two routes : the Dourbie valley, where you will be charmed by every single village crossed (La Roque Sainte Marguerite, Cantobre, Nant ...) ; or the Larzac route, that will allow you to immerse yourself in the history of Larzac, its Templar cities and its citizen struggle during the 70s.
In order to share and preserve nature, the Tayrac water rambling is closed every Saturday, and from 01/10 to 31/05.
Every other day, only the water level can vary the requirement of the adventure. A phonecall is preferred when booking.

Is it hard ?

Yes and no, it is possible to vary the difficulties during the activity.
Framed by your monitor, you will decide which obstacles you want to overcome or not. The crasiest will be able to redo some jumps or slides while others can hide behind the camera! Whatever your level in the band, you'll share a memorable moment, all together.

How long does it last?

Plan a half day.

Access to the river will be through a 20 minute walk. We will descend the slopes in the shade of the emblematic chestnut trees of Cevennes.
Then, the descent of the fabulous stream will last about two and a half hours, just following the river between natural pools and other waterfalls.
The return to your car will take about 20 minutes. The ascent will be at each one’s rythm, the head filled with beautiful images.

What to bring ?

You have to plan your own transport, or share the transport with other persons of the group.
Everyone must have a swimsuit and sneakers. Wetsuits and helmets are provided.
Nothing to carry with you, however, it is wise to leave in your car a snack and water !

What is there to do around or for those who do not practice ?

On site, those who do not participate in the activity will be able to enjoy the river or walk around the pretty villages mentioned above.
Towards Montpellier, the Templar city of La Couvertoirade is a unique place full of history. On the other side, Mount Aigoual allows you to see all Cévennes.

What are the obligations? Contraindications?

The river is a natural environment with its surprises and risks. Don't worry, the instructor will be there to understand them and advise you. However, it will require you to be able to walk on natural trails and rocks for half a day. It will also be necessary to be able to swim and fully immerse yourself, at least briefly!

If you have had surgery or injury in the past few months, or if you have an illness or other problem that makes you doubt on your abilities, take your doctor's opinion.
